NCNAAPT Spring Meeting and Conference
Members of NCN AAPT were treated Friday night April 11th to a "Hot Dog Reception" hosted by Paul Robinson and David Kagan at Rockstar Science. It included a walking tour around the ball park for AAPT members.
AAPT Conference on April 12th, 9 - 5 PM at the Exploratorium. Co-hosted by Paul Doherty and Paul Robinson, the conference featured Show and Tell, and three outstanding keynote speakers; David and Christine Vernier, founders of Vernier Software and Technology; Doug Stone of Yale who authored "Einstein and the Quantum: Quest of the Valiant Swabian"; Pascal Lee "Mission: Mars". Our featured guest speakers signed books during the lunch break. The meeting concluded with a Paul Doherty providing tour of the giant concave mirror exhibit at the Exploratorium where attendees walked "through" their own image!

Spring Training, Giants Stadium and Spring Training Complex Scottsdale, AZ
David Kagan and I will investigate the acoustical signatures of hits using a sound sensor connected to a Vernier LabQuest2 and a laptop. Does the sound of the "crack of the bat" really reveal the nature of the hit? Can you tell a homer from just the sound of the bat hitting the ball? We hope to find out.
